Love & Nudes Lingerie Update

I’ve been amazed and scared of my journey in bringing this lingerie line to fruition for women of colour.  Never have I ever (a little bit of Ellen DeGeneres here) enjoyed what I’m doing so much. There are scary moments when it is rough, but I remind myself of  WHY I’m doing this which helps me refocus and bounce back. I was told by my very savvy business advisors that when you are in pursuit of your business, you really have to know what your why is. It can’t just be for money, fame or for pleasing other people, as these reasons will never sustain you when the going gets tough. And it will get tough. Copyright: rrraven / 123RF Stock Photo

My WHY is to celebrate and empower women of colour to love their skin tone. In day-to-day life I’ve witnessed how women of colour aren’t celebrated in everyday products within the cosmetics and fashion industries. In my personal life as a Caribbean woman, I have not only experienced, but have witnessed and heard about these same women who where put down, criticized or left out because their skin tone was undesirable to someone else. This skin shaming was either subtle or overt, from friends, family (the worst), a love interest or even a job. When I see the pictures of new developments with my manufacturer I know that my mission to empower and celebrate women of colour will be well worth any challenges I face.  My manufacturer recently sent me pictures of the colours that have been developed on the fabrics that are going to make the lingerie.   Now that they have the fabrics, trims and colours developed, they are making my first samples of bras and underwear.  I’m pretty pumped and can’t wait to show you the samples that should be arriving soon! Therefore, follow me on my mission to celebrate you.
