Tell us a little about your business. What is it about?
Bona Fide Organizing is a business that provides organizing and de-cluttering services for residential and small businesses.
What happened to make you want to do this? Tell us what drove you to start this.
I was laid off after 15 years as a Senior Rep in the Architectural Design world and had zero desire to return. It wasn't long after, I decided to take a leap of faith to become an entrepreneur. Why not use all that energy I would otherwise give to someone else company and do something of my own? I simply looked deep into myself to find all the things I enjoyed doing, that I had a knack for and involved helping people; add that with all my previous work experiences, becoming an organizer just was a natural fit.
The more I grow into this role, the more I've become sensitive to the needs of others and their circumstances. The clutter is not just about someone being lazy or too busy to put their stuff away. I've seen people have a difficult time maneuvering in their spaces and find it extremely stressful and challenging to let their possessions go for all sorts of reasons; they may use/wear it again, it was expensive when they bought it, it brings so many memories. Once they reach out to me for help and we start the process, they become more excited and eager to be organized as they see their spaces transform. When my client tells me how thankful they are that I lifted a huge burden off their shoulders and they love their space... that right there is why I love doing what I do. Nothing is more rewarding than helping someone to live better, feel more relaxed and enjoy their spaces, even if they may have appeared resistant to change.
I feel as though I have to work harder in a field where I'm outnumbered. But that's ok. They say it's not work if you enjoy what you're doing right?
Have you had a remarkable breakthrough or a win that you would like to share with our readers? We all love hearing success stories! Tell us yours!
Well having me share my story on Love & Nudes platform is a win for me! I've also just recently been contacted through Instagram by a writer of THE ONLY US design magazine that features Black Designers, Decorators and Creatives. They were looking for a Professional Organizer story for their summer issue and they chose me! Good thing I kept my posts up to date on Instagram. :)
