Resilience to the Rescue with Patricia

We love featuring trailblazing women on Love & Nudes - in fact - it is part of our Women First manifesto to support, encourage, and uphold amazing women. We are excited to feature Pastor Patricia Russell a breast cancer conqueror, an inspirational singer, speaker, author and songwriter. Check out her story below.

Tell us a little about your passion. What is it about? Using my life experiences I speak to audiences about developing resilience and seeing that everything in life can serve them and others.

What is the change that you would like to bring to society?

I would like people to know that nothing they experience is without value and that whatever you walk through you will come out stronger.

What happened to make you want to do this? Tell us what drove you to start this.

Being in leadership most of my life I've experienced many things. My various roles from wife, pastor's wife, other leadership roles have taught me a lot. After my cancer journey I knew I wanted to come alongside women and serve them. There was a circle of support I needed but did not always have. I want to be that for other women. So by speaking and coaching I make this happen.

Have you achieved some of your goals or has something happened in the world to make you want to work even harder?

I had a goal to record a solo recording, I've done that twice both studio and live. I will always be a worship leader - which is my love. I have stepped into speaking more and I have seen the need for women to be coached so I am serving in those capacities. More and more women are experiencing interpersonal relationship challenges on the job, in the home in leadership. Many want to just quit. As an optimist I see the glass as half full so I believe once you get the tools to navigate these challenges you can become more resilient.

How do you think being a woman of colour has impacted your journey?

My father told me that both gender and colour would disqualify me from certain positions. I chose to not believe that. I believe women of colour have to love who they are and not allow either aspect to keep them from pursuing their goals.

Have you had a remarkable breakthrough  that you would like to share with our readers? We all love hearing success stories! Tell us yours!

I would say that I am not a quitter although many times I have wanted to! I can tell you I am persistent when I consider both times I was physically challenged I was also creating, working and serving in my community. I am releasing a book during one of the most trying times in recent history. This has been no easy feat!  I knew that part of my purpose is to bring people together and to also come alongside them to assist them in seeing and knowing their gifts and talents were to be used for their growth and other people’s blessing. I had to be resilient. This is how my dream, my book  STRONGER RESILIENCE came to be. Find out more about this resilient breast cancer survivor on her website
